Selecting Bridesmaids Dresses

    BRIDESMAIDS 101: THE CRASH COURSE!

Hi Ladies... Over the weekend you might be thinking of how to choose the perfect bridesmaid gown for your wedding. Well, as promised, I am here to help! Checkout the buying bridesmaid dress crash course...

Where do I start? When choosing a dress, it is the bride's privilege to select the color and type of fabric of the bridesmaids' dresses. However, consideration must be given to the bridesmaids' style, color preferences, body type and budgets.

    What are the latest trends?
The hottest styles right now are A-line because they flatter all body types--two-tone, two-piece floor length styles, mostly sleeveless. Also very popular are column-style dresses, floor length, halter top or straps criss-crossing over the back and sleeveless.

    What should I know?
Bridesmaid dress manufacturers are constantly adding and discontinuing styles and often increasing prices on more popular carryover styles of bridesmaid dresses. As a result, it is strongly recommended shopping for and ordering your dresses as soon as you have made a decision on the bridesmaid dresses you want. You will also want to leave enough time for alterations for your bridesmaid dresses - usually at least two weeks to one month before the wedding.

Dress ColorsPlatinum is very popluar style at the moment, as well as the paler colors, pale yellows, pinks, sand, and taupe. There is also a trend toward chocolate brown, mocha, burgundy and hunter green for Fall weddings. However, when it doubt, you can never go wrong with Black--it is a classic!

    Combination Colors
A great new trend is to choose a manufacturer that offers different styles in the same fabric and color and lett each bridesmaid choose the style they look best in (with your blessing of course!).

A "color run" is also a fun way to go. That means that each bridesmaid wears a different color of the same dress. Each bridesmaid may pick a color she feels flatters her most. Just be sure to stay in the same tonal range (such as all pastels, all primary colors, etc.).
